Welcome to Circular Dorking

Circular Dorking is a network of businesses, community groups and individuals who are working together as volunteers to strengthen our Dorking community by creating a local circular economy at its heart. This will mean we are all better placed to support each other to deal with the challenges of climate change and future uncertainty.

How we work

Our activities encourage local businesses to act sustainably, to make the best use of their materials and to minimise waste. We publicise best practice so businesses can learn from each other. We also signpost and enable the wider community to make better informed choices.

This will help us all move forward in to the safe and sustainable future to which we all aspire and that our planet deserves. Shopping locally means that money circulates within the local economy whilst strengthening and benefitting our local community. Everyone wins! What’s not to like about our local community supporting itself and each of us to be more sustainable and community minded?

How are you doing?

Download and use our checklist to find out how your business can increase its sustainability. The Survey is based on the 7Rs of Sustainability.

Once on the sustainability and innovation roller-coaster, you can help your customers see the benefits and get them involved, empowered and motivated to do the same. It may even make your customers more loyal. We are all looking for competitive advantages – right?

We are asking interested local businesses and community organisations to step up and join us! Let’s work together to create a vibrant, brighter and more sustainable circular economy for Dorking and the surrounding area.

Funding

Circular Dorking is an organisation run entirely by volunteers, our membership is free to all who want to begin or improve upon their sustainable and wellbeing journey. With this in mind. we are always grateful of any funding we get to improve and build on what we do. Thank you to Surrey County Councillor Stephen Cooksey who helped us fund our website development and to the Mole Valley UKSPF for their grant.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
